Spring Into Your Neighborhood 2019 – Events & Awards

April 23, 2019

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

It’s Spring Into Your Neighborhood time in La Crosse and the neighborhood associations are inviting residents to celebrate through a variety of planned events and activities city-wide.  Spring is a special time in La Crosse, perfect for getting out to see your neighbors and exploring new as well as historic parts of town.  Neighborhood associations also will be welcoming new & returning neighbors at their Spring meetings, so save-the-date and invite a friend or family member to attend.

The Spring Into Your Neighborhood observance piggy-backs on the successful Fall Neighborhood Family Social held on October 13th of last year that featured games, information, giveaways and treats at Copeland Park.  Whereas the Fall social brought all the neighborhood associations and community organizations under one roof for 1 day, the Spring events are hosted in each neighborhood with an assortment of ways to get to know neighbors, neighborhoods & the associations better for several weeks.

Whether you are interested in attending a Spring Fling, joining others to help neighbors, attending a social at a park or eatery, testing your local knowledge on a neighborhood scavenger hunt, or attending a walking tour, there are many activities to choose from for all ages.  Please contact the individual neighborhood associations directly or LCNI at http://lacrosseneighborhoods.org and 608-571-5264 for an up-to-date listing and more information.

Furthermore, the Fall social and Spring events serve as the bookends for nominations and awarding of the Sara Sullivan Award and the Jerilyn Dismoor Award.  The Sara Sullivan Award is given yearly to a La Crosse resident to recognize their outstanding efforts with social revitalization, beautification and/or neighborhood partnerships.  Past recipients, in addition to Sara Sullivan, have included Jo Ann Neve of Washburn and Angela Manke of Powell Poage Hamilton.  The Jerilyn Dinsmoor Award, is given yearly in recognition of outstanding teamwork and exceptional contributions to neighborhood revitalization by a group or organization.  La Crosse Promise was last year’s Jerilyn Dinsmoor Award winner.

Please send nomination suggestions to info@lacrosseneighborhoods.org or complete an application at http://lacrosseneighborhoods.org/awards/ by September 20th, 2019 EXTENDED TO OCTOBER 4TH, 2019.  The 2019 winners will be announced at the 2019 Mayor’s Neighborhood Conference on Saturday, October 12th at 10am in the Black River Beach Community Center .

Sincerely,

Jacob I. Sciammas
